North Country Women's Expo @ Northern Lights Casino in Walker

For more than a decade, the North Country Women’s Expo, the longest-running in northern Minnesota, has been recognized as the best. If it’s about women, it’ll likely be at the Expo.

The 2017 Women’s Expo will be held March 11, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Northern Lights Event Center, Walker. The event is free and open to all ages.

The Expo is an opportunity to learn about the latest in women’s products and services including health and wellness, fashion, food and dining, fitness, home and lifestyle, finances, education, pampering, shopping and everything related to feeling good and living well! More than 60 vendors usually sign up to display services and merchandise.

The Women’s Expo gives women of all ages a chance to escape the late winter doldrums and spend a fun day, often with friends and relatives.

Expo activities vary from year to year but usually include vendor demonstrations, break-out sessions, spa services such as massages, presentations by professional chefs offering samples of great cuisine, and plenty of opportunities for “retail therapy.”

Cooking demos are by Dancing Fire Restaurant, 10-10:45 a.m.; Lucky Moose, 11-11:45 a.m.; and Green Scene, 1-2 p.m.

Breakout sessions feature Essentia Health’s “Screening and Prevention for Women,” 10-10:45 a.m.; Jenny’s Beehive’s “Bag of Tricks,” 11-11:45 a.m.; and “Dry Eyes and Beyond” by  Dr. Jennifer Keller of the Park Rapids-Walker Eye Clinic, 1:30-2 p.m.

Young “Just for Kix” dancers will demonstrate their dance routines at 12:15 p.m. Wine-tasting at 1 p.m. will be another popular activity.

Human services organizations, local law enforcement and civic groups are available to discuss services they offer and how women can become involved to make their communities safer, stronger places to live and work.

All proceeds from the Women’s Expo go to support WHA Community Education programs.

The North Country Women’s Expo is sponsored by WHA Community Education, Northern Lights Casino and Event Center, and The Pilot-Independent.
